ThisFish, a developer of seafood traceability and production software, has created a software directory for the seafood sector.
The directory includes over 350 software companies, with filters allowing industry users to find suitable providers for their needs, covering software, artificial intelligence, and blockchain technologies.
According to ThisFish, 307 new software companies were founded in the past decade – making up about 91 percent of its directory listings.
“We’ve launched the Seafood Software Directory to help the global industry find the technologies they need for their digital transformation journey,” ThisFish Co-Founder and CEO Eric Enno Tamm said. “In the last five years, there has been an unprecedented explosion of new digital technologies for the seafood sector. The software market is getting crowded and confusing, and so a comprehensive directory will help the industry navigate this diverse market.”
The directory’s total listings showcase the rapid rate of innovation in the seafood industry. Forty percent, or 135 companies, featured are seafood software companies launched in the last five years; 30 percent, or 103 companies, use artificial intelligence, including either machine learning, neural networks, or computer visions; and 8 percent, or 28 companies, power software with blockchain technology.
The list has 60 filters available to users, including technology, sensors, specialization, fisheries, marketplace, aquaculture, traceability, and processing functions, as well as research areas, country, organization type, and geography.
Company profiles, which can be viewed from the directory, contain a description, list of specializations, functionalities, other information, and data on the company – such as date founded, organization type, sector, and country. Along with the detailed profile are links to the company's website and LinkedIn page.
ThisFish plans to continue to update and expand the directory, with aims to have it encompass cold-chain technologies, database APIs, and other service-sector industries, in the future.
ThisFish is a Vancouver, Canada-based company, and its services include providing technical support to the seafood industry, including software called Tally designed to aid the industry in its digitalization efforts, including in areas such as data collection, automation, reporting, and artificial intelligence.
