- Skretting CEO Therese Log Bergjord and Nutreco CEO Fulco van Lede have both announced their resignations.
Bergjord has been with the company since 2017 but decided it is “time for a change,” she said in a release.
“I have headed up Skretting for this period, and it has been a privilege,” Bergjord said. “I have enjoyed every part of it: my exceptional colleagues, our innovation capabilities, and the entrepreneurial culture we are so proud of. I am truly grateful for the support and cooperation of my colleagues in the management board and across Nutreco and SHV. My main focus now is to secure a proper handover.”
Bergjord will be succeeded by Trouw Nutrition Europe and Central Asia Managing Director Bastiaan van Tilburg, effective 1 June.
“Therese’s genuine interest in people and her positive leadership style have always stood out to me, and it’s clear that she has built a very strong and closely connected team and a culture of collaboration. Also, as a recognized leader in the aqua industry, Therese has helped Skretting to be the reference brand in the market. She will be deeply missed, but she leaves the company in a very solid state and with a bright future ahead,” Bastiaan said. “For me, it’s an immense honor and great pleasure to follow in Therese’s footsteps. I feel a tremendous responsibility to build on her legacy.”
Van Lede had been with the company for three years, Nutreco said in a release.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Nutreco and my many years as part of the SHV team, and I’m proud of what we’ve achieved together,” he said. “It’s been a privilege to work alongside Nutreco’s passionate team as we tackled the challenge of sustainably feeding an ever-growing population. Yet, after 20 years at SHV, with the last 10 working at the board level, it is time for me to broaden my horizon.”
David Blakemore will succeed Van Lede as CEO, the company said. Blakemore has worked with the company since 2022 as CEO of Nutreco’s company livestock feed business: Trow Nutrition. He brings more than 30 years of experience developing customer relations, commercial innovation, and management.
“We respect Fulco’s decision to step down and want to thank him for all his contributions to Nutreco and the wider SHV Family of Companies over the years and wish him all the best in the future,” SHV CEO Jeroen Drost said. “David’s experience in the industry and knowledge of the company makes him an excellent successor and the right leader to take the company forward to its next phase of growth.”
Filling Blakemore's spot will be Eduardo Lopes Alberto, who was formerly the vice president of global innovation for Trow Nutrition.
- The Global Seafood Alliance (GSA) appointed Mike Kocsis as CEO.
Kocsis joined GSA in 2022 as its chief systems officer and was promoted in August 2023 to chief strategy officer.
“I’m excited to continue advancing responsible seafood practices globally with our partners,” Kocsis said in a release. “GSA is proud to engage with many of the world’s leading aquaculture and wild-caught seafood producers, retailers, foodservice operators, and NGOs, and I look forward to closer collaboration as we advance our shared vision. This work isn’t possible without the incredible team at GSA. Their commitment to our mission and dedication to continuous improvement inspires me daily. It’s an honor to serve this team and lead GSA into the future.”
Kocsis brings more than 20 years of industry experience to the new role. He has previously worked at major seafood companies such as High Liner Foods, King & Prince Seafood, and Gorton’s Seafood.
- Marcell Boaventura has resigned as CEO of Bergen, Norway-based aquaculture company Molofeed.
According to his LinkedIn, Boaventura had been with the company since November 2020.
“We developed new processes and products, scaled the production in our facility, delivered an R&D aquaculture facility from flat land in Brazil, succeeded in the import/export regulatory environment, achieved brand recognition, delivered against commercial goals, launched new products in the market, and met sales targets in Asia and Latin America,” he wrote on LinkedIn.
Elsewhere in the company, Molofeed also appointed Chelsea Andrews as its sales director for Asia. Previously, Andrews worked as vice president of the Asia division for the shrimp genetics company American Penaeid.
“Chelsea brings a wealth of experience and a passion for driving growth in the Asian market. With her strategic mindset and proven track record in sales, we're confident she'll lead our Asia expansion to new heights,” Molofeed posted on LinkedIn.
Andrews comes bearing seven years of experience working at aquatech company XpertSea.
- Salmon Scotland has appointed Fiona McCauley as its quality and assurance manager.
“She's already diving into getting to know our industry, our people, and, of course, our fish,” the organization wrote on LinkedIn.
