The awards increased to USD 70,000 (EUR 66,244) from last year’s USD 40,000 (EUR 37,854) for each recipient, as SeafoodSource previously reported.

“At our SENA reception, SICA award winners are invited to formally accept their awards and present their work to industry leaders, including winners from 2022. The reception will highlight and celebrate the important work being done by these organizations to drive change within the seafood industry in focusing on carbon reductions and increasing diversity,” Acme Smoked Fish Chief People and Sustainability Officer Rob Snyder told SeafoodSource. “At SENA, we will also be showcasing Acme’s new packaging – and you’ll notice a wonderful new addition to our support for climate initiatives starting in 2024, coming soon.”
The three companies and projects, which based in the U.S. or Canada, focus on decreasing carbon emissions and expanding diversity across the seafood sector.
“This year’s grantees are ambitious yet pragmatic solutions to important issues in our industry – and each has a great potential to have widespread positive impacts as they continue to scale,” Snyder said. “What’s more, the commitment shown by these projects to increase representation of diverse voices and support their broader communities is outstanding.”
