Dubai, United Arab Emirates-based seafood marketing company Seafood Souq recently signed a partnership that would see it become the sole distributor of seafood products produced by Newsan Food, an affiliate of Argentinean electronic manufacturing company Newsan.

Seafood Souq, a global tech firm offering the seafood industry an integrated digital ecosystem to trade, trace, and finance seafood products, said the deal will enable it to supply Argentinian fish and streamline the importation process to the markets comprising the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC): Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, U.A.E., Qatar, Bahrain, and Oman.

“The deal positions Seafood Souq as a key player for high-quality Argentinian seafood in the GCC,” Seafood Souq spokesperson Johanna Lawson-Dick told SeafoodSource.

Furthermore, the partnership opens an opportunity for Seafood Souq to introduce seafood products that “have never been imported directly into the GCC before,” such as Patagonian toothfish.

“This partnership introduces new and high-demand [products] directly to the market, enriching the variety and quality of seafood available,” Lawson-Dick said. “Seafood Souq prides itself on offering transparent and reliable supply chains, and by minimizing the number of intermediaries, the company ensures that products are not mislabeled or mishandled, hence maintaining the highest standards of quality and traceability.”

Newsan Food, which has 40 fishing vessels, three cold-storage facilities, and 16 processing plants and exports products to more than 70 countries, can now leverage Seafood Souq’s marketing platform to expand its international market reach further, Lawson-Dick said.

“This collaboration is set to redefine the seafood landscape in the GCC and beyond, aligning with the region's increasing demand for premium and responsibly sourced seafood,” she said.

Newsan Food seafood products Seafood Souq is set to market include Argentinian shrimp, hake, Patagonian toothfish, multiple varieties of squid, Chilean king crab, and Chilean swordfish.

“This collaboration marks a significant step in our mission to make trade more traceable and offer direct delivery from Argentina to new markets,” Seafood Souq Chief Business Development Officer Jimmy Torchut said in a previous release.
