The next edition of Seafood Expo Asia, taking place 11 to 13 September at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre in Singapore, is set to be the largest in the event’s history.
Event organizer Diversified Communications announced that as of 1 August, the show is nearly fully booked with an exhibit floor that will be 84 percent larger than last year. This 2023 edition of the expo also marks the second time the event will take place in Singapore after moving from its previous location in Hong Kong. [Editor's note: Diversified Communications also owns and operates SeafoodSource].
“[It’s] very exciting to see such an exponential growth for the event’s second installment in Singapore,” Diversified Communications Event Director Iris Kwan said in a release.
Kwan said that the show has seen strong interest from European suppliers looking to expand their business in Asian markets, and the returned presence of Chinese companies after the country lifted Covid-19 related restrictions is also contributing to the show’s growth year-over-year.
The latest edition has to-date garnered exhibits from more than 283 companies hailing from 37 countries, including Argentina, Australia, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Canada, Chile, China, Ecuador, France, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Mauritius, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Oman, Papua New Guinea, Poland, Singapore, Solomon Islands, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, United States, Vietnam and Yemen. The show will also feature new representations from Georgia, Mauritania, Nicaragua, and the United Kingdom.
The expo will also feature more than 27 regional and country pavilions for the 2023 edition, nine more than 2022, the show organizer said. New pavilions will showcase seafood from Australia, China, Japan, Netherlands, Norway, Poland and Republic of Korea.
The growing list of companies exhibiting at the show include Salma (Norway), Blumar Seafoods (Chile), Parcs Saint Kerber (France), Zoneco Group (China), AquaChile (Chile) Hofseth Asia (Singapore), and many more.
Diversified Communications said Seafood Expo Asia’s Key Buyer program, which connects top-level buyers with suppliers via a business matchmaking program, will continue this year.
Also returning for 2023 is a conference program with sessions, workshops, and discussions led by industry experts. The program will cover topics relevant to the Asian seafood market, including seafood trends, AI and seafood processing, seafood sustainability, aquaculture, and consumption trends.
This year also marks the launch of the Seafood Excellence Asia awards recognizing the best and most innovative products at the expo.
The expo will also feature a product showcase and Tasty Kitchen with cooking demonstrations and tasting events, and the “Seafood Party,” a networking event for suppliers and high-volume buyers.
“The 2023 event will not only be larger than last year’s, but will also be the largest edition ever,” Kwan said. “This is an indication that Singapore is a strategic location that provides our exhibitors with the opportunity to explore business potential in various Asian markets.”
